Dr.
Jackson completed his residency training in general surgery at Tulsa Regional
Medical Center. He served as chief resident in the program during his final
year of training. Prior to joining Surgical Associates, Dr. Jackson had been
in private practice in Tulsa since 1983.
Among Dr. Jackson’s special interests
is laparoscopic assisted surgery. An increasing number of procedures are
within the scope of minimally invasive surgery. Laparoscopic surgery can
offer certain patients the advantages of a minimal stay in the hospital,
decreased postoperative discomfort, and less time away from normal activities.
Other areas of surgery in which Dr. Jackson is active include surgical oncology
and endocrine surgery. He is board certified by the American Osteopathic
Board of Surgery.
While maintaining an active general
surgery practice, Dr. Jackson developed a keen interest in healthcare administration
and business. In 1999, he completed graduate studies at the Meinder’s School
of Business at Oklahoma City University where he earned a Masters Degree
in Business Administration. He is also an avid cyclist and enjoys trips with
his family to Europe for bicycling excursions.
Dr. Jackson is a Fellow of the American
College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Osteopathic
Association, the American College of Physician Executives, the Oklahoma Osteopathic
Association, the Tulsa Osteopathic Medical Society, the Oklahoma State Medical
Association, Tulsa County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.
