Before joining Surgical Associates, Dr. Harmon had been in the private practice of general surgery in Tulsa since 1977. Among Dr. Harmon’s areas of special interest are the surgical treatment of breast cancer and new techniques in laparoscopic assisted surgery. He also performs a procedure that brings the advantages of minimally invasive surgery to patients with
varicose veins. The operation, a transilluminated powered phlebectomy,
is performed using special instruments inserted through very small incisions.
It allows patients fewer scars, a shorter time in surgery, and more rapid
recovery time than traditional surgeries to remove varicose veins.
Dr. Harmon is an enthusiastic
outdoorsman and likes snow skiing, hunting, and fishing, as well as other
outdoor activities. He also enjoys traveling and golf.
Dr. Harmon is board certified
by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College
of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the
Oklahoma State Medical Association. He is also a past president of the
Tulsa County Medical Society, the Tulsa Surgical Society, and the Oklahoma
Surgical Association.
Since 1977, Dr. Harmon has
served as Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of
Oklahoma College of Medicine in Tulsa. |
