He also performs a procedure that brings the advantages of minimally invasive surgery to patients with varicose veins. The operation, a transilluminated powered phlebectomy, is performed using special instruments inserted through very small incisions. It allows patients fewer scars, a shorter time in surgery, and more rapid recovery time than traditional surgeries to remove varicose veins.

Dr. Harmon is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Medical Association and the Oklahoma State Medical Association. He is also a past president of the Tulsa County Medical Society, the Tulsa Surgical Society, and the Oklahoma Surgical Association.

Since 1977, Dr. Harmon has served as Associate Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Tulsa.
