Diagnosing Breast Cancer

The number of patients diagnosed with breast cancer has been continually rising over the past 20 years. However, these numbers undoubtedly reflect intense national research to improve diagnostic techniques, as well as important patient education which together have significantly increased the ability to detect breast cancer in its earlier, more treatable stages.

Today, diagnosing breast cancer requires a multidisciplinary approach, involving close communication between doctors and mammographers for proper pre-biopsy imaging evaluation and pathologists for proper specimen handling.

You may access additional resources on diagnosing breast cancer at the Food and Drug Administration.
