One-on-One Outreach

More than a decade ago, Surgical Associates initiated an outreach program bringing together volunteers who are breast cancer survivors and women newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

Every volunteer in the program - called One-on-One - has been treated for breast cancer by Surgical Associates.

During the time between diagnosis and treatment, a One-on-One volunteer is paired with the newly diagnosed patient. The volunteers form a special bond with new patients and are able to share unique insight into concerns about treatment, living with breast cancer, and coming out on the other side of treatment even stronger than before.

Volunteers have personal insight into the life-changing events that accompany a breast cancer diagnosis. Support and encouragement are provided by women who understand the fear, emotional turmoil, and many questions about cancer treatment and recovery. They are a living testament that life does go on after breast cancer.
